Review: Bhakti Almond Milk Iced Chai

Let me start this review off by saying this one is for the people who don’t have the time to make their own chai or those who are on the go (and the dairy-free because hey, this is a vegan brand!!).

Bhakti chai is definitely my favorite store-bought chai brand, they make any different variations with different milks and amounts of sugar, so there’s one for everybody. I have been able to find mine at the Whole Foods near me, as well as in the local health food stores, but if you go on their website there’s a locator that will tell you stores near you that sell their products.

For me, if I’m gonna buy something at the grocery store based off impulse, it’s usually 99% because of the labeling. I really like Bhakti’s bright and colorful packaging, it makes it really clear what you’re buying.

This chai I’m trying is the Almond milk, reduced sugar chai. This mix is gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, low-fat, soy-free, and non-GMO. It’s already got everything you need in the glass bottle, so all you need to do is drink! I like that you can see the spices in there, but you need to make sure you shake before drinking so they’re all mixed together with the liquid.

This has a more ginger-y flavor that you can smell, which I absolutely love (I think the taste of ginger is overlooked in many chai blends). There is a bit of spice, you can taste it towards the back of your mouth. It’s more of a black pepper type of spice, so even if you have a low spice tolerance you should be good drinking this. The mellow but not overly-sugary chai (cough cough, @ Starbucks) makes for a nice on-the-go option.

The only thing is the almond milk leaves a slightly tangy aftertaste, but that can be easily overlooked, and I think if I were to try the other versions they sell with different milks that won’t be present. All in all I really like this chai, and will buy again.

Comment below if you’ve tried any Bhakti chai and what you thought! Also, let me know if you’d like me to review any of their other chais!

Update October 15, 2019:

I contacted Bhakti when I noticed that their bottled ready-to-drink chai I couldn’t find anymore, due to a glass manufacturing issue the bottled drinks have been discontinued. Their other products such as their concentrate are still available to buy .
