Hi chai enthusiasts! It’s been a little bit since I’ve posted, March/April are always very busy months. I am back today with a fun post (story-time)!

Recently, I was surprised with a cake made by our friend Bran of Bran’s Baked Delights, inspired by my Lavender Chai Latte recipe (which you can read here) . This cake is absolutely beautiful, with succulents (my favorite) on top! It’s everything that I love, all in one cake.

Before I get into the flavor, let’s talk about the process.

Like I mentioned, this cake is based off of my Lavender Chai recipe here on I Try Chai. She made the lavender simple syrup following my recipe and using lavender she bought from the local lavender farm on Maui.

For the chai flavor, she infused the milk with chai (yum!), and also used Hawaiian honey. It’s topped with her special Italian meringue buttercream, a silky and creamy addition to the cake.

This cake was 6 layers of honey-lavender-chai delicious! When I hear something has lavender in it, I want it to shine through and this cake did just that! The combination of the lavender syrup and the edible lavender on top was perfect.

The chai flavor was evident throughout the cake, and was a perfect match for my lavender chai! The buttercream was silky smooth, and just the right amount on top and between the layers. The Hawaiian honey added the perfect amount of sweetness.

The sweet calm flavors of the lavender and honey blended well together, and matched the depth and spice of the chai in the cake.

This cake was so good, I wish you all could taste it through the pictures! You can tell the amount of thought and effort that was put into making this amazing cake through the spot-on flavors. It perfectly embodied my lavender chai latte. Not only did it taste amazing, but it looked gorgeous too!
