Review: Vahdam Teas- Saffron Masala Chai

Vahdam India Teas Saffron Masala Chai Review

Hey chai enthusiasts! It’s been a crazy past few months, with Chai Month in October then Pumpkin Chai month in November it was non-stop content creating a new post every week for you guys! We also reached 1k on Instagram!

Lots has been happening in my little world, in addition to me getting a new job, as well as setting up/registering my freelance graphic design business (which is about to go live very soon) so I took a (needed) couple weeks off from I Try Chai. But fear not, I’m back today with another review post. I Try Chai is back to posts every other Friday, so keep checking back and make sure to follow all my socials!

Before I get into the review, I’d like to say thank you to Vahdam India for sending me some free chai samples!

Vahdam Saffron Masala Chai

Let’s start with packaging, the set I was sent is the Blush tin caddy. This is probably the most beautiful packaging I’ve seen so far. It comes in a blush colored rectangular box with gold details and a magnetic closure. Inside you have 3 gold tins for three different flavors of chai but today we’re just focusing on the Saffron Masala Chai (stay tuned for reviews of the others).

The instructions for chai include a preparation sans milk, or a traditional chai with milk. I opted for the milk option.

The instructions were open ended, just stating the ratio of milk to water so I used 1/3 cup milk to 2/3 cups water as instructed. I wanted a stronger chai so I used 2 tsp of chai and 2 tsp of sugar.

For the process, you boil the liquids first then add the chai and continue to boil together. This is an interesting method, the color came out bright and just the right shade.

Taste

I’ve never had a chai with saffron in i. This chai it had a slight essence of it. This is a very silky smooth chai, and not overly spicy. If I could describe this chai simply, it’s fragrant and very light.

Overall thoughts

This is a very different chai from anything I’ve tried before! Not a typical spicy chai, nor a typical sweet chai, this one is a category of its own.

Rating: Chai Adventurers

Spice level: Not spicy
