Review: Angry Nani Ancient Chai Set

Angry Nani Chai Gift Set

Happy first post of 2021! Even though last year was rough, I worked hard to make it an exciting year for I Try Chai. We’ve had the most posts EVER uploaded here, including the inaugural Chai month and Pumpkin Chai month. Also, had our first giveaway ever, reached 1k on instagram and launched the I Try Chai merch store!

Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or joined sometime in 2020, be ready because there is more to come from I Try Chai in 2021 ;)

So let’s get to today’s review: Angry Nani Ancient Chai Set. I’d like to thank Angry Nani for sending me this for free to taste!

I had first stumbled across this brand on instagram, so I had heard about them for a while. They focus on using a chai recipe that’s been passed down through generations. The batches are handmade, for a more authentic experience.

Angry Nani’s chai is made in a way that she’s everyone’s “angry nani”. This chai is authentic, handmade, and you can sense the care put into it.

Angry Nani Masala Chai Assam Tea

Starting with the packaging, I love the jars. The labels are nice, and the set does with a cute little spice spoon (love that). Not pictured is the professional box your shipment comes in.

I’ve seen this style of packaging before with chai and I think it’s interesting, having the tea separate from the cha spices. In one jar here we have Assam black tea. Angry Nani uses a method they refer to as CT (cut, tear, curl): basically a method of grinding the tea leaves, similar to coffee. This impacts the flavor.

When you open the spice jar, immediately you can smell the amazing chai spices, as you should with every good chai. Immediately we were on a good track.

As you can see in the photos, the chai spices are ground very very finely. Very powder-like. This means that straining is going to be a lot easier and also it will practically dissolve into your drink, meaning you’re not going to lose those flavors.

I followed the instructions, using one cup water and half cup milk. For sweetener it’s up to you, I personally added 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.

The flavor was very nice, it was smooth but still had the spices at the bottom of the cup. I wouldn’t classify this as a spicy-burn-your-throat chai, the spice is more muted. Definitely a nice cozy chai for a rainy day or just when you wanna curl up with a book or binge a tv show.

Speaking of curling up with a good book, Amazon is offering your first month free with Kindle Unlimited. They have over 1 million ebooks to choose from, and thousands of audiobooks at your fingertips! If you want to check that out you can click here.

This is a solid chai! It didn’t take too long to make. You just have to initially bring it to a boil then add milk/milk alternative, then bring up to a boil again then strain and sweeten.

This is a chai that anyone would enjoy! That’s why I rated it as “Crowd-pleaser”. Be sure to read the ratings at the end of every review!

See you in the next post! If you’ve read this far, comment what posts you wanna see this year.
