Review: The Milana Company - Royal Emperor's Chai
Hi chai enthusiasts! I’m back with another review (I know I know, I have a lot of chai in my cabinet and am working through tasing/reviewing it all). Thank you to Milana Company for sending me this chai to taste!
The Milana Company is a Canadian tea and skincare company. All of their products are vegan an 100% natural (which is great)! They never use any artificial flavorings or additives.
Their blend I’m tasting is The Royal Emperor’s Chai. What’s interesting about this and makes it different from anything I’ve tried before is there is rose petals in the mix, in addition to the normal chai spices. The packaging is really nice & clean, a marble pattern with gold lettering.
As you can see, this is a loose leaf blend, we can see the rose petals and the cardamom pods.
When you open up the bag it smells amazing.
There is no sugar or sweetener in it, so it’s up to you what you use and how much. Personally I like to add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.
Taste
I would describe this as a rich chai. Not a typical everyday cup, but when you want to indulge. It doesn’t have spice to it, and no flavor is necessarily pronounced. I prefer my chai to have a kick, or a little more recognized flavor. This is very tame and muted, but as I said, it’s a smooth & rich chai.
I tried doubling the recommended chai and still didn’t get a kick of spice or any pronounced notes, and unfortunately I couldn’t taste the rose. That being said, this is a solid chai. I got a noticeable boost, so this is highly caffeinated.
For anyone out there who hasn’t had a chai or is hesitant with spices or new flavors, this is a chai that is pretty tame. Or if you’re looking to indulge in a Royal Emperor’s Chai, splurge for a rich experience.
