I’d like to start off this post by thanking Tipu’s for sending me samples of their various chai flavors! I will be reviewing all the different variations throughout the next few months.

I came across Tipu’s instagram account, and they seemed like they really knew what they were doing when it came to chai. Based on their founder’s grandmother’s recipe, their goal is to serve a bold, spicy, and creamy cup of chai.

I’ve been on the hunt for an authentic chai that doesn’t take up too much time to make, and (with the exception of their slow brews) Tipu’s delivers on that promise.

This review is on their Chai Now blend of Sweetened Masala Chai. The box puts simply: “add water + milk”.

This chai includes the sweetener in the mix (in this case it’s organic dry cane syrup) so all you have to do is add 1/2 cup of hot water and 1/2 cup of warm milk (or milk substitute) to the 4 tsp of chai.

This blend is a loose mix, in a foil package. What’s interesting and especially cool is they eliminate the straining process! The spices are definitely there, but they are finely ground so that they just dissolve into your drink.

This cup of chai took me maybe 5 minutes to make (which is a new record)!

Now I know what you’re probably thinking: how good can a chai REALLY be if it can be made quick? Yes, I at first had the same question. But listen.

This chai is * packed* with flavor! It really does live up to the sweet, bold and spicy taste that was promised. There is definitely a spice I’m picking up on (perhaps black pepper?) that really kicks the whole thing up a notch.

I was really surprised actually, because usually chais that are already sweetened end up being overly sugary, it’s really hard to nail that ratio but this is perfectly balanced.

I also noticed a definite caffeine boost from this particular blend. I made this at that point in the afternoon where I needed something to keep me going for the rest of the day (circa 3:30 pm) and this cup of chai did the trick! I mean, I was able to write most of this post in one sitting so…

They also sell another blend that seems to be almost identical, but it’s unsweetened, so a review on that is coming up in the very near future (keep an eye out)!

I absolutely would recommend for the bold chai lover and will likely be buying this once I run out!

You can try it as part of the You Try Chai Sampler Box here.
